Earl Gray and meditation was on the menu as Walmart kicked off the second day of ESSENCE Festival with royal tea at the Windsor Court hotel.

Decked out with flutes of champagne, delicious sandwiches, scones and tea, Black women at the top of their games gathered together to uplift one another and form new connections.

Matching the vibes of the room, Lauren Ash of Black Girl in Om led a moving meditation encouraging the room to ground themselves and remember the unconditional love in their lives.

Known for her powerful platform that urges Black women to invest in their wellness, Ash helped bring a moment of pause and reflection to a busy, event-filled weekend.

When it comes to women who have yet to begin their journey into meditation, Ash has some sage advice. “Set an intention. Get really clear on “the why” behind approaching this new way of being,” she shared, adding that making sure you’re not seeking it out because of anyone else is important. “That will influence the type of meditation you pick up, the way you approach it and then you’re going into it with a purpose.”
