Cece felt the spirit just as much as we did. “Weren’t Kierra Sheard and Vanessa Bell Armstrong amazing!” CeCe proclaimed after their high-energy performances.
CeCe also talked about why being at the ESSENCE Music Festival is dear to her heart.
“ESSENCE means so much. When I was growing up, it was the beauty bible for us Black girls,” CeCe said. “ESSENCE showed us that Black is beautiful back when other people weren’t saying it.”
After she reminisced about being on the cover of ESSENCE, CeCe humbly accepted her award.
“I feel honored today, but most of all I’m honored because God has blessed me to sing his praises all over the world,” CeCe said. “Without Him, I am absolutely nothing.”
