Pharrell has teamed up with American Express to launch Project Yellow, an initiative to support arts and music education in schools. The “Happy” singer and his A-list pals will kick it off with The Yellow Ball, a fundraiser that will feature a performance from Missy Elliott and take place on Sept. 10 in New York City. American Express has already jumpstarted the donations with $1 million. (People)
Gabby Sidibe will be returning to the American Horror Story series for its latest installment, Apocalypse. Creator Ryan Murphy announced via Twitter that the American Horror Story: Coven star will also be joined by fellow Coven and Murder House alum, including Emma Roberts, Evan Peters, Taissa Farmiga and Stevie Nicks. Johnny Depp’s film about The Notorious B.I.G. has been dropped just a month before its scheduled release. Based on the book LAbyrinth, the film titled City Of Lies was set to star the award-winning actor and Forest Whitaker as Los Angeles detectives investigating the deaths of the “One More Chance” rapper. R. Kelly’s estranged brother Carey “Killa” Kelly has released a 19-minute diss track accusing the “I Admit” singer of many things, including sleeping with men and knowingly spreading STDs. The song, titled “I Confess,” also discusses Carey’s troubles within the music industry. (Vibe)

Cole has released a new freestyle, “Album of the Year.” Rapping over Nas’ 2001 “Oochie Wally,” the KOD MC spits an array of punchlines about his excellent, intellectual flow and high-level lifestyle. The video, directed by Simon David, seemingly points to two more upcoming releases from Cole, “Off Season” and “The Fall Off.” The rapper will kick off his North American tour on August 9 in Miami, Florida.
