Jay-Z Remembers Trayvon Martin: 'His Name Serves As A Beacon Of Light'
JAY-Z popped up Saturday at the Trayvon Martin Foundation’s 6th annual Peace Walk and Talk in Miami, where he used the spotlight to discuss Martin’s memory.
“His name will sit alongside some of the greats whom (sic) lost their life to push our culture forward, the Martin Luther Kings, the Gandhis,” JAY-Z said. “That’s the intention that we set, that his name serves as a beacon of light and hope and push us in a better direction.”
He was joined onstage by Martin’s parents Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin.

Martin, who would have been 23 this month, was fatally shot in 2012 by white neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman. Zimmerman was later acquitted of all charges in the shooting.
Jay-Z’s company is producing Rest in Power: The Trayvon Martin Story, a documentary set to air on the Paramount Network.
