Luvvie Ajayi's Database Of Black Women Running For Office Now Includes Information On Over 600 Candidates

Back in January, author, activist and 2018 ESSENCE Festival panelist, Luvvie Ajayi, worked with three of her colleagues to create a full listing of all the Black women running for office in 2018.
The idea that began as a brainchild of Luvvie’s after she went in search of such a listing and came up empty-handed has now grown to include hundreds of Black women candidates from around the country. In addition to listing the names of the women, as well as where they are based and what office they are running for, the database includes information on how to support each of the candidates by donating or volunteering to help amplify their political campaigns.

Following Stacey Abrams’ historic democratic primary win in Georgia’s gubernatorial race, Luvvie took to Twitter to share that the database has now grown to include information on a total of 603 Black women political candidates in just 4 months.
The database currently lives at blackwomeninpolitics.com and also includes a tab where users can submit the name of a candidate who isn’t already included in the listing.
