'Walk Across The Room Like Naomi Campbell!' 11 Times Naomi Strutted Into History
Her name rings bells. Her runway walk gives us chills and her modeling career has paved the way for a multitude of Black models, who’ve aspired to be just like her — Jourdan Dunn, Chanel Iman, Liya Kebede and countless others. Naomi Campbell is the undisputed runway queen!
Even Queen Bey has paid homage to the supermodel with the now famous song lyric from her hit 2006 song, “Get Me Bodied”: “Do the Naomi Campbell walk, Naomi Campbell walk. Walk across the room like Naomi Campbell.”
And this week as we premiered ESSENCE’s prized September issue, we chose none other than Campbell to grace our cover –paying homage to another legend, Dapper Dan.
“They told me I would only last 11 years, but I’m here, and it’s been 32 years,” said Campbell in her acceptance speech at the CFDA’s where she was honored with this year’s ‘Icon’ Award.
So let’s take a look at 11 times that this legend has snatched all of our wigs!
