Glam Diary: West African Blogger Dimma Umeh Shares Her Globe-Trotting Beauty Tips
This feature originally appeared in the August 2017 Issue of ESSENCE Magazine.
“In most parts of Nigeria, there’s an unspoken expectation for women to put significant effort into their appearance, so makeup is really popular,” Umeh says. Perhaps that explains why thousands flock to her YouTube channel, ThatIgboChick, for tutorials on vibrant lids, poppy lips and glowy, melanin-rich skin.
When traveling, only take essentials. "If you love makeup like me, decide on a look and wear it with slight variations for the entirety of the trip," Umeh recommends. For more variety, pack a few compact and lightweight lippies.
Across The Pond
Umeh's first international trip was to London. It has become her favorite destination.
Moisturizers are a must in Umeh's daily regimen. Her advice for keeping skin supple in dry weather is to add a drop of jojoba oil to your face cream.
