While many of us were deciding which college we would attend or choosing a career path at age 18, Hiran, Somalia native Nasra Haji Hussein was looking for a way to make a better life for herself and her family. Her journey led her to the city of Mogadishu, where she settled with a relative before landing an apprenticeship with local mechanics at a service garage.
Today, she is making history as Somalia’s first female mechanic. Hear her compelling story in the video above.
