In an interview with Global Grind, while promoting his film, The Magnificent Seven, Denzel Washington lays down some words of wisdom while addressing the “Uncle Denzel” memes.

The meme appeared on social media shortly after an interesting photo of the actor surfaced, taken at the Mayweather v. Pacquiao match.

For the record, Washington is totally not amused.

When asked about his thoughts on his photo being memorialized on social media as a corny uncle, Washington offers this:

“If I had my wallet I’d show it you,” he said. “Because they didn’t know what I was doing. They don’t need to know.”

“Those who can do, do. Those who can’t, talk about those who can,” he elaborated. “Are you just one that sits on the sideline to talk about other people, or can you step up?

In other words he’s saying, ‘y’all haters corny.’
