The latest sexting scandal involving former New York congressman Anthony Weiner continues to unfold and this time, it looks to spell the end of Weiner’s marriage.
Weiner’s wife Huma Abedin, who is a top aide for Democratic Presidential Nominee Hillary Clinton, recently revealed that she and Weiner have decided to separate as details of her husband’s most recent sexting incident continues to publicly unfold.
“After long and painful consideration and work on my marriage, I have made the decision to separate from my husband,” Abedin said in a statement on Monday. “Anthony and I remain devoted to doing what is best for our son, who is the light of our life. During this difficult time, I ask for respect for our privacy.”

According to CNN, Abedin was “furious and sickened” when she learned that Weiner had allegedly sent a woman a photo of himself in his boxers with their 4-year-old son lying next to him. Although the photo has become the face of the scandal since it was released to the public, Abedin said she only learned of the details of the scandal last weekend.

A woman who is reportedly a Donald Trump supporter told the NY Post that she and Weiner have been exchanging photos and text messages for nearly a year. CNN reports that several sources close to the couple confirmed the two have been “on a path a part” for the last few months.
This isn’t the first time Weiner has found himself in hot water over texting. In 2011, he resigned from Congress after accidently posting a lewd photo of himself on Twitter and in 2013, he was caught sexting porn star Sydney Leathers.
Weiner has a since deleted his Twitter account and had yet to publicly address the most recent sexting scandal.
