VH1's Hip Hop Honors was a night of love and respect for the ladies that paved the way in hip hop, as well as powerful statements.

Queen Latifah, Missy Elliott and Lil' Kim, women known for strong, conscious, and no-holds-barred lyrics, were honored so it seemed fitting that Dej Loaf brought an important political moment to the red carpet.

Draped in a jacket that read "stop killing us," the rapper tapped into a sentiment that the Black community at large is feeling following the recent killings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile.

She rocked the powerful jacket with boyfriend jeans, suede olive boots and a beret, giving us major Black Panther vibes.

We're so here for fashion with a message.
