Leave it to Queen Bey to start the 2016 BET Awards off right! The singer is currently on tour and made a surprise appearance at the 2016 BET Awards. And, of course, the entire audience was rocking.

If ever there were an award show for the singer to belt out her liberating tune, "Freedom," it would be the BET Awards. The singer, who is nominated for 5 BET Awards this year including Video of the Year (for Formation, of course,) was joined on stage by ESSENCE Festival headliner, Kendrick Lamar who—per usual—brought the house down with his powerful lyrics. While we were all caught up in the shock and magic of the moment, we were also captivated by Beyonce's gorgeous golden braids.

Lately, Bey's #BlackGirlMagic has been on a serious high since her hit single "Formation" dropped. For the BET Awards, Beyonce revived one of our favorite looks form the "Formation video": free-falling, micro-braid cornrows. And now we're thinking it may be our next summer 'do.

The look is quintessentially #CarefreeBlackGirl and we are completely obsessed—not to mention you'll be encouraged to get your hair wet all summer long. We're practicing our Yonce-inspired water choreography now—stay tuned!
