"Shoes are like the thorn in my backside," Laila Ali said the former boxer.
For the average woman the word 'shoes' alone is an aphrodisiac, but for others footwear can be a serious pain point.
"Shoes are like the thorn in my backside," Laila Ali told Footwear News on Sunday at the Special Needs Network's eight annual Pink Pump Affair in LA.
It's hard for the undefeated, former professional boxer to find stylish and comfortable heels in a size 12. Most popular shoe brands like Louboutin, she notes, run small whether or not they carry her size.
For the event she paired her body-skimming cobalt blue dress with Ivanka Trump floral peep-toes. We know what you're thinking, but she bought them before the primaries. "We're not going to hold her daddy against her", she added.
Both ladies have big shoes to fill – literally, so no judgement here, Laila!
Shari Belafonte was another celeb in attendance who has a hard time with heels. The 61-year-old General Hospital actress and daughter of iconic entertainer Harry Belafonte said she gave up wearing heels at 40!
She was sporting pink converse for the fundraiser and fashion show benefiting families affected by autism and other related developmental disorders.
"I'm done with heels – my closest is pretty much sneakers and work boots."
Shari once had a friend at Reebok who gave her the sample sizes for styles that never hit the market.
If we had the plug at Reebok, we'd gladly push heels to the back of our closets too.
