We're gonna put our money on Kelly with this one.
Mathew Knowles wants to battle it out with Kelly Rowland in a musical challenge between their new girl groups.
Kelly is getting down to the wire on her BET reality show "Chasing Destiny," and now that she's almost ready to give the world a glimpse at which of the competing ladies she's chosen to be in her new girl group, Mathew wants to see if they can hang. The former Destiny's Child manager recently stopped by the Tom Joyner morning show with his new girl group Blushhh and during their chat, he challenged Kelly and her new group to a "group off" with the ladies of Blushhh.
Unlike Kelly's group, Blushhh is made up of two rappers and a singer, with Mathew describing the girls as "Destiny's Child meets TLC meets MC Lyte." He also revealed that the group has received guidance from the same vocal coach used by Beyoncé, Kelly and Solange. Despite making the comparisons, Mathew made it clear that he wasn't looking to create another Destiny's Child, but to instead help develop the group's already unique sound and natural talent.
As the conversation continued, Mathew brought up Kelly's new show.
"Kelly is coming out with Chasing Destiny and I know all about it because we had to negotiate the title of the show because I own that trademark," he told TJMS host Sybil Wilks. "But, I always say 'Kelly, I look forward to your group....whenever you put it together, take your time...cause I wanna come somewhere with Tom Joyner and I wanna have a group off! A group off with whoever your group is and with Blushhh music."
He then took to the challenge a step further, adding: "Just remember, you're the teacher, I'm the student."
Mathew certainly knows a thing or two about crafting the ultimate girl group, but Kelly is also working hard to make her group the cream of the crop, so it's anyone's guess as to who would win this particular challenge. At any rate, we're just glad to see R&B girl groups back in the mix!
