This Afro-Cuban inspired collecton is perfection.
Leave it to Dear White People and Creed star Tessa Thompson to look as carefree and cool as ever while modeling Tome's new capsule collection.
The 32-year-old became both a muse and model for Tome designers Ryan Lobo and Ramon Martin as they created their first large scale collection.
"She is just the coolest, smartet, political, sophisticated and fabulous lady," Lobo told Vogue.
"We believe that real women look better in our clothes. And Tessa is a real woman, but also immortalized on film now. A real woman has always been our beginning, center, and end of our process anyway," Lobo explained. "That is why we choose female artists [as the inspiration], too."
With her effortless embodiment of each piece in the collection, Thompson taps into the aura of the woman from whom the designs found inspiration --Afro-Cuban artist and feminist Belkis Ayon.
Ayon works with theamatically dark undertones to create beautiful pieces of art with high contrast and sensual design.
Using Ayon's work in mind, Lobo and Martin birthed an entire Fall/Winter colllection that is easy and organic, with a fresh take on the classic silhouette including easy-to-wear piecs like a décollerage-diving, broad-striped wrap dress, wide-cream pants, and a low-slung skirt bowed at the hip-bone.
The light and airy feminine pieces make the collection a must-have for the warm days to come.
