The hip hop production gets yet another standing ovation!
Congratulations all around for Hamiton!
Playbill reports that once again, the hit Broadway production is making history as one of only nine musicals in history to earn a Pulitzer Prize.
The Lin-Manuel Miranda musical phenomenon scored the 2016 prize for Drama which is awarded to "a distingushed play by an American author, preferably originial in its source and dealing with American life."
Hamilton tells the story of Alexander Hamilton, the "ten-dollar Founding Father withouth a father" through hip-hop song. Manuel joins the playwrights of Fences, Rent and A Chorus Line in both history and as a $10,000 cash prize receipt winner.
This isn't the first big win for the production, which is basically impossible to get tickets for. Hamilton also took home the Grammy for Best Theatre Recording this past Februrary. Director Lin-Manuel Miranda took to Twitter to express his excitement at the news.
