Seattle is about to get a brand new park honoring the late Jimi Hendrix.

Jimi Hendrix Park has been in the works for ten years and is finally set to open this summer. Through fundraising and money awarded from the county, the park has been constructed and is now entering its last phase.The park is steeped in Hendrix's influence, with many of the structures and artwork based on his life in the city and his career.

Tee shirts are still being sold to help sustain the park after it opens, and there are plans to use the park space for music events. It is expected to open on August 27.
