Debra Martin Chase, the veteran producer behind Sparkle and The Princess Diaries, is working on a new miniseries for ABC called The Black Calhouns.
The Black Calhouns is based on the book of the same name by Gail Lumet Buckley, the daughter of Lena Horne, and will tell the story of an African-American family's journey from the beginning of Reconstruction through the civil rights movement.
Martin Chase will produce alongside Howard Rosenman and Buckley's daughter, Amy Lumet.
