Lupita and Danai hit the red carpet with style, grace and everything in between.
Spring is almost here and to celebrate, Lupita Nyong'o and Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira wore bold makeup to Broadway’s newest show, Eclipsed. And according to their makeup artists, Nick Barose and Kim Bower, both ladies lips were inspired by colorful flowers of the pending season.
“Bold lips make the best accessory,” says Barose. “Anything goes these days when it come to bold, statement making lips, after all you don’t pick strong bold lips to look natural.”
To get Lupita’s look, Barose used an orange color that was inspired by the stunning shades of African tulips he saw in Kenya last summer. He layered Lancôme's Lance Rouge in Love 146B Miss Coquelicot with a hint of sheen by dabbing a bit of Lancôme's Juicy Shaker in Great Fruit on the center of lips her lips that perfectly complimented her Balmain dress.
For Danai, makeup artist Kim Bower opted for Chanel’s Rouge Coco Stylo in Roman, a bold color with deep rose tone that also complimented her Schiaparelli gown. “It’s bold but has a hint of shine so it’s easy to wear,” says Bower who mastered Danai’s lips and cheek with Kevyn Aucoin cream blush in Liquifufuschia.
