Black Twitter shocked by a popular beauty website that mistook Whoopi Goldberg for Oprah Winfrey.
All Black people do not look alike—not even the rich, famous and powerful ones. Great, and now that we’ve straightened that out, someone just needs to tell the social media team over at TotalBeauty.com.
The website tweeted a photo of Whoopi Goldberg arriving at the Oscars, with her shoulder tattoos peeking out of her off-the-shoulder gown, with a caption that read: "We had no idea @Oprah was #tatted, and we love it #Oscars"
Uh-oh. The post was live for over 45 minutes while countless horrified Twitter members mentioned the mistake and called out the brand correctly identifying Goldberg.
The website has since removed the tweet, but have yet to post an apology or correction. It’s safe to say that the damage is done, and someone’s probably getting fired.
Do better, guys. Winfrey is internationally recognizable. There's just no excuse.

UPDATE: The Total Beauty twitter account has posted an apology that reads: "We’d like to apologize to Oprah and Whoopi, as well as everyone we’ve offended. It was our error, and there are no excuses. We’re sorry."
