#OscarsSoWhite meant nothing at last night’s Spirit Awards.

Two of the night’s biggest awards went to Black actors—Beasts of No Nation stars Idris Elba and Abraham Attah.

Idris Elba Says He Nearly Died Filming ‘Beasts Of No Nation’

Attah took home Best Male Actor for the Netflix drama while his co-star, Elba, scored the Best Supporting Actor prize.

Neither the stars of the heartwrenching movie—which tells the story of an guerilla warlord who trains an orphaned young boy to join his militia group of soldiers during a civil war in Africa—nor the picture itself received Academy Award nomination. Tangerine star Mya Taylor also won Best Supporting Female, making her the first transgender actor to ever do so.
