Watch what happens when a churchgoer tries to chastise Meagan Good for the way she dresses.
If you don’t have anything nice to say about Meagan Good, her husband DeVon Franklin would rather you don’t say anything at all.
On Valentine’s Day the couple participated in an intimate conversation on love and faith at the popular One Church in Los Angeles that was moderated by pastor Touré Roberts. They came to discuss abstinence and marriage in conjunction with the release of their popular new book, The Wait: A Powerful Practice for Finding the Love of Your Life and the Life You Love, but during the post-conversation audience Q&A session things took a more negative turn.
Around the 53-minute mark in the conversation, a churchgoer chastised Good for her style of dress, leaving her visibly hurt and wiping away tears.
"This is not offensive, but I was at the grocery store and I looked at a newsstand and saw you, and you had your breasts showing,” said the unidentified woman. “So, I wasn't going to come here, but the Lord brought me here to see you. You are a beautiful young woman and your testimony is awesome. The Lord let me come and push past the judgment…this is real. Because you have to make sure what you say and what you do match up, you understand? So, we gon’ cover up right?”
Franklin immediately interrupted the woman and defended his wife’s honor: "Wait a minute. No! That is not what we're here for," he told the woman. "She's not gonna cover up. She is gonna wear what she wants to wear in the name of Jesus, amen.”
The crowd cheered in support as Franklin moved closer to his wife to kiss her softly.
“God bless you, we love you,” he continued. “I love you dearly, but she has been as Christian as she is right now. She wore whatever she wanted to wear. So no, we ain't doing that," he said. "Y'all about to see another DeVon that y'all ain't never seen! Remember, I'm from Oakland now!"
Can the church say, Amen? Way to stand by your woman, DeVon.
