Mo'Nique ruffled a few feathers this week when she she spoke out about giving her husband "free passes" to cheat.

In an interview with True Exclusives, the actress opened up about her relationship with her husband saying it's all about honesty.

Mo'Nique went on to explain that she thinks men and women need to be willing to have open and honest conversation about sexual feelings towards other people.

“Now, if you want to go further with it, let’s be honest enough to have those conversations. What is it about that person that you find that you want to sleep with? Because they may give you something that I’m simply not willing to do. And if that’s the case, how can I be mad? Because I’m not going to do it. Should I deprive you of not having it? That’s when the relationship is real real.”

Mo'Nique's discussion comes in the midst of a new statistic that for married couples, sex once a week is the sweet spot, contrary to the widespread belief that more sex is always better. Although the two ideas cover different territory, both suggest that there are bigger things to consider when it comes to your relationship with a significant other.

Mo'Nique's philosophy and the new statistic make it clear that there are other things like honesty, communication and friendship that take precedent over sex when it comes to marriage. Whether you're open to "free passes" or not, what is more important than sex when it comes to your marriage?
