After two long years, the network finally greenlights the project.
Everyone's favorite awkward Black girl is finally coming to cable.
Two years after Issa Rae, the mastermind behind the Awkward Black Girl web series, inked a deal with HBO for a new comedy, Deadline reports that the network has greenlighted the project, Insecure.
The show, written by both Rae and Larry Wilmore, will follow the friendship of two modern-day Black women, Issa (played by Rae herself) and Molly (Yvonne Orji). The Game's Jay Ellis will star opposite Rae as her unemployed boo.
Congrats, Issa! We are already setting our DVRs.
