Janet Jackson just added "boss" to her multi-hyphenated repertoire.
As we reported yesterday, Janet Jackson's untitled project is set to roll out in 30 days with a brand new single. For the first time in 7 years, Ms. Jackson will bless the world with a new album through her very own label.
Janet is already an accomplished singer, dancer and actress. According to a new press release on her site, JanetJackson.com, the 49-year-old will add record label head to her resumé as she launches 'Rhythm Nation Records.'
The international superstar plans to discover new talent, as well as work with existing artists to enhance their business standings in the music industry. "Unlike a traditional record deal, under an artist services deal the artist retains ownership of their recordings and full oversight of all costs and revenues," the press release states. Jackson also added, “Thank you to the talented team at BMG, my new artistic home. The opportunity to be creative in music and every form of entertainment has great potential here.”
Congratulations to one of our favorite ESSENCE FEST alums on this major announcement. Send her celebratory messages on Twitter, @JanetJackson.
