Murphy will join Mike Epps, Oprah Winfrey and Kate Hudson to round out the cast of the Lee Daniels film.
Eddie Murphy has officially joined the cast of Lee Daniels' much-anticipated Richard Pryor biopic.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Murphy will star in the pending movie as Pryor's father, LeRoy "Buck Carter" Pryor.
Murphy joins Mike Epps, who is set to play Pryor, Oprah Winfrey, who will play his grandmother and Kate Hudson, set to play Pryor's wife.
This week, Lee Daniels posted a picture of him and Murphy on Instagram saying, "Strap in and brace yourself. They done let me and him out of our cages! #idonteventhinkimreadyforthisone! #excited #proud #OMG."
The biopic was first announced in January of 2014. Winfrey will serve as one of the movie's producers along with Pryor's widow, Jennifer Pryor. Daniels will reportedly direct as well.
There is no word yet on when the film will be released.
