Where and how did you meet your man?
Stanley and I met on a dating website.
What was your past dating life like?
I was just coming out of a 20 year marriage. I felt as though I was not quite ready to date but my friends thought differently and strongly persuaded me to join the dating website.
Were you looking for love at the time?
Actually, I was not. I was enjoying my newfound freedom. After devoting my life to raising my daughters, once they were on their own two feet (my 25 year old daughter, Arielle, graduated from Graduate School in 2014 and my 20-year-old daughter, Whitley Eva, is currently a junior in college) I told myself it was “Teresa Time.”
Did you play hard to get?
Well, he would say yes. I would say I was being smart and cautious. Once I found out his profession I tried to run away from him as fast as I could. You see, I have worked closely with doctors/surgeons for years and let’s just say the common “personality trait” they all tend to share was not desirable to me. Stanley completely shattered that theory. He is the most sweetest, loving warm and caring doctor I have ever met. Both to me, as well as to his patients.
Describe your most romantic date ever?
There are many I could mention, but the one that makes me melt whenever I reminisce about it is our first date, which was the first day we met face-to-face. After a long day at the hospital Stanley cooked for me. Not just any meal. He cooked gumbo and he baked a cake from scratch. (He used to own a bakery). We talked and talked and drank the finest wine. The television was on but we never watched it.
How did he pop the question?
Wow! Just thinking about it still makes my heart flutter. Stanley planned the proposal for six months. It was elaborate, touching, elegant, sweet and completely blew me away. He rented three rooms at The St. Regis Hotel in Buckhead and invited my sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews and friends along with his family, friends, coworkers and our pastor. The first room was called “Stanley’s Angels.” All his close friends were there. Poetry and bible versus were recited by his friends and Stanley sang three songs to me. Once I entered the room and saw my two daughters (who live in Florida) and my family members I was in shock. The third room was called “The Proposal” it was so beautifully decorated with roses. It was only he and I (and Ross Oscar Knight – the photographer) in the room. He sang the first song he had ever sang to me, “Share My Life” by Kem. He then read two poems to me, got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.
