Happy Hump Day! Here's what we're talking about over our coffee this morning:
The Dallas Cowboys have cut Michael Sam, the NFL's first openly gay player. Sam joined the Cowboys practice squad after being cut from the St. Louis Rams in August. Sam took to Twitter to thank his fans and share his hopes of someday rejoining the league. "I want to thank the Jones family and the entire Cowboys organization for this opportunity, as well as my friends, family, teammates and fans for their support," he wrote. "While this is disappointing, I will take the lessons I learned here in Dallas and continue to fight for an opportunity to prove that I can play every Sunday." [E! Online]
Django Unchained actress Daniele Watts and her boyfriend Brian James Lucas have been charged with lewd conduct. The couple was arrested on September 11 for allegedly having sex in a car outside the CBS Studio Center in Studio City California. Watts claims she was merely “showing affection, fully clothed.” The 28-year-old actress and her boyfriend face a maximum sentence of six months in jail and a $1,000 fine. [Clutch]
It looks like Wiz Khalifa and Amber Rose are still on good terms, despite their pending divorce. The rapper took a moment to wish his soon-to-be ex-wife a happy birthday, on Twitter. “Thank u Sweetheart,” wrote Rose. “Still love you no matter what.” [Vibe]
There's a new chip in town! Meneko Spigner McBeth's wasabi-ginger flavored potato chips have won the Frito-Lay "Do Us A Flavor" contest. The registered nurse beat out the competition of cappuccino, mango-salsa, and cheddar-bacon mac and cheese flavors to win the grand prize of $1 million or a portion of the year's sales, whichever one is larger. That's a tasty prize. [The Root]
"Get down, girl. Go 'head, get down!" Tina Knowles got down with Jamie Foxx to the hit song "Gold Digger" at the Gabrielle's Angel Foundation 2014 Ball. Watch Mama Knowles back it up on stage.
