How did you meet your man?
Jason and I met at a party that I really did not want to go to. He stared at me the entire night from across the room and about an hour before the party was over he finally approached me and said, “You are soooo beautiful. I have been wondering what to say to you the entire night.” That's when we talked and danced the rest of the night away.
Was it love at first sight?
After about a month I tried very hard not to feel something for him. That was the hardest part for me because he was great and we always had so much fun together. He planned the best dates. Plus, he listened to everything I wanted to do and would go out of his way to make it happen.
Were you looking for love at the time?
No, not at all! I was actually planning to move to England that January, so I was not looking to meet anyone new at that time.
At what moment did you know he was "The One" for you?
After we had a very heated discussion about priorities. At that point, Jason was completing his master's degree while still working full-time and he was slipping in the boyfriend area. I was being very supportive and understanding during this time, but I felt like I was the only one working on our relationship. When he realized that he was indeed neglecting the relationship, he declared his love for me in the most sincere and special way. He said, “I'm trying to secure our future and you will always be my top priority.” That sealed the deal for me and was the exact moment I knew. I cancelled my plans to move to England on that very same day.
How did he pop the question?
With some help from my sister he planned to propose while I was on a cruise for a family vacation last year. He took a flight two hours after ours and he even hid on the cruise for four days until it docked in Barbados, which happened to be the day of our three-year anniversary. He walked over to me while we were on the beach in Barbados and proposed right there in front of everyone.
