Must-See: Watch 18-Year-Old Elyjuh René Perform Beyonce's 'XO' on 'The Voice' Premiere

The Long Beach, California teen landed a spot on Pharrell Williams’ team.

Eighteen-year-old Elyjuh René wowed the judges on the season premiere of The Voice last night. The Long Beach, California native, who grew up in the church, performed his own soulful version of Beyoncé's "XO" during his blind audition. “The first word that came to my mind when I heard your voice was anointed," said Pharrell.

René eventually opted to join Team Pharrell.

It's way too early to say who will move to the final round, but we have to say, we're excited about Elyjuh and fellow contestant Damien, who sang Boyz II Men's "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye."
