In somber Sunday news, Michael Strahan and Nicole Murphy have decidedly split after a five-year engagement, Murphy’s rep confirms to PEOPLE. “They love each other very much, but with the distance and work schedule it has been hard to maintain the relationship,” Strahan’s rep also confirmed.
The 46 year-old VH1 star and model started dating Strahan back in 2007 after both of their marriages ended. 42-year-old Strahan’s second marriage to Jean Muggli culminated in a nasty public divorce and Murphy split from then-husband, actor Eddie Murphy. One year later, Strahan popped the question.
While today might be a sad one for Strahan, tomorrow he certainly has a lot to look forward to. The former New York Giants defensive end and current Good Morning America and LIVE! with Kelly and Michael cohost will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Surely mixed emotions for them both.
