Common was one of many musicians who came to celebrate celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the ESSENCE Festival in New Orleans. Watch the Chicago rapper/actor take the stage at the House of Blues and perform alongside The Roots.
This year's ESSENCE Festival was our best yet. If you missed out, this Common video might help ease the pain.
In this two-minute vignette, cameras follow Common as he descends on New Orleans, takes selfies with fans, talks to fellow ESSENCE Festival performers and of course, tears down the stage. The rapper performed at our House of Blues Day Party and on the Mainstage with The Roots, who brought him on as one of their surprise guests.
"NOLA is one of my favorite places to visit. And to be totally honest, it was great to be around all those beautiful black women for the weekend," Common said in a statement about attending ESSENCE Festival.
Common, who just signed with longtime friend and producer NO I.D.'s ARTium Records, is gearing up for the release of his 10th solo album Nobody's Smiling, due out for release on July 22.
