Happy Juneteenth! The observance which, began in Galveston, Texas, commemorates the June 19th anniversary of the day slavery was effectively outlawed in America in 1865.

The holiday, also known as African-American Emancipation Day, is celebrated across the country with various events like festivals, live entertainment, art exhibits, church programs and more.
