The star finds out about the warrant for her arrest while watching a TV news report.
Anita Baker was just as surprised as her fans to find out that she is a wanted woman in Detroit, Michigan.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the singer who is in a legal dispute with Ray Smith Painting and Decorating Company, found out about the warrant for her arrest while watching a TV news report.
Baker took to twitter writing, "WHATTT??!!...sittin' in the kitchen watching this on TV. BIG time crazy. Atty on his way to TV Station. Devil sho is busy."
Although the painting company claims that she failed to pay a $15,000 bill, Baker's attorney Jamal Hamood has stated that she's paid them almost $60,000 already for a job that was ultimately done poorly.
Hamood told the Associated Press that he plans to file a motion to cancel the warrant, claiming that Baker was never served with papers and had no idea that she was being sued.
Baker tweeted her thanks to fans that have supported her, "THANK YOU, for ALL the LOVE & LIGHT u've sent my way. All is well :) Light is Dim... But SHINING ANYway Grateful 4 every lesson, ab."
