Lee Daniels is set to make his TV directorial debut.

The award-winning director will get behind the camera of Fox's news drama, Empire.

As The Hollywood Reporter shares, the drama follows a prominent hip-hop family.

Daniels will team up with his Butler partner, Danny Strong, who will write the script. The gentlemen will co-executive produce the series with Imagine, Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo.

This is the latest project for Daniels, who will also direct one episode of the upcoming Biblical drama Ten Commandments.

There's no word on when Empire will premiere or who will star in it.
