Blair Underwood's turn as detective Robert T. Ironside has come to an end.

NBC has canceled the 1970s spinoff about a paraplegic cop after just three episodes. The show premiered to 6.8 million viewers in September, and has slipped from there.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Ironside will be replaced by new episodes of Dateline and holiday-themed specials of Saturday Night Live in November and December. Chicago Fire will officially take the slot in January.

We'll miss seeing Mr. Underwood on our screens.
