How did you meet your man?
I met him at the University of West Georgia where we both attended school. He was a rising junior and I was an incoming freshman. He actually reached out to me on Facebook before I got to campus and I never replied to his message. Of course he was one of the first people I met on move-in day because he was the Resident Assistant for the hall that I lived in.
Were you looking for love at the time?
Absolutely not! I was young and wanted to have fun and experience being away from home.
What was your first impression of him?
My first impression was that he had a great smile and was a very well put-together guy. He seemed straight-laced.
Weirdest date you've ever been on?
Our weirdest date was when we went to see a movie and couldn't stop laughing hysterically. A little boy in front of us was acting up so his mother popped him and snatched his drink. We glanced at each other and began to snicker silently. The next thing we knew the young man turned around in his seat to stare at us. We began to laugh uncontrollably for the next few minutes.
What’s the most embarrassing thing that ever happened on a date?
Candi bumped her head on a lamp at Ruby Tuesday.
What’s the sweetest thing he’s ever done for you?
I received a promotion within my company and he had flowers sent to me on my first day in my new role.
At what moment did you know he was “The One”?
There wasn't a set moment; it was a combination of things. All of the time spent together felt natural and felt like we had known each other forever. He had all the qualities I wanted and needed.
How did he pop the question?
We had a couple's massage earlier that day and then went to dinner at a really nice restaurant called the Sun Dial. It overlooks the city and really creates a romantic mood. After dinner he took me to the Fox Theater to see the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. After the show, as we were walking outside he asked me if I trusted him. He blindfolded me and led me on a short walk. When he took the blindfold off, I was standing in front of the Fox Theatre and there were people standing in a crowd watching. He got on one knee and popped the question! I was in tears and in shock. All of his fraternity brothers were behind me with a single rose and a hug for congratulations. We had champagne and he even had a photographer that was there to capture the special moment. I was completely overwhelmed with excitement!
What are you most looking forward to about marriage?
The memories we’ll make as we grow our family and travel the world.
