The ESSENCE Festival performer says her new full-length album will be released on her own label, Saint Records.
It's Solange's time to shine!
The 2013 ESSENCE Festival performer announced on Twitter she's starting her very own record label, Saint Records.
The new business venture is a joint collaboration with Sony. Solange says she'll be releasing new music, including a brand new album, through her new label.
"Through Saint Records I will have 100% creative/artistic control and continue to passionately pursue my footing in the musical movement," she tweeted.
Solange returned to the stage last November after a hiatus from the business. She released an EP, True, which featured the singles "Losing You" and most recently "Locked in Closets."
Her good friend Janelle Monáe sang her praises in the latest issue of Complex, of which Solange covers. "There's a difference between being an artist and being a performer," said Monáe. "We both love telling the truth from our own mouths and being in control of what we do. That's an artist's job—paint the painting that you're selling."
