The soul singer reveals she needed to love herself first.
"Me and Antwaun, as of now, we are not together," said Fantasia. "I think it's the best thing for us all. We have to learn how to become friends again."
The soul singer plans on using her free time to better herself and her children—10-year-old daughter, Zion, and one-year-old son, Dallas Xavier.
"I wanted to make everyone else happy, to love [Antwaun], to make sure Zion was okay, to make sure everything—but I had to get to a place where I had to learn how to love Fantasia," she spills. "I never did that. And if I don't love myself, then I can't be in a relationship."
Fans can hear the Grammy winner lay it all on the table in her forthcoming album, The Side Effects of You, where she reveals some of her heaviest personal struggles.
"There were things that were still fixing and knots that we were still trying to untangle in dealing with Fantasia," she tells Singers Room. "I'm a soul singer. I don't know where else to reveal it so, I put my all into this album."
The Side Effects of You hits stores on April 23.
