Our prayers go out to New Orleans teacher Terrilynn Monette who went missing after visiting a bar with friends.
Our prayers go out to the family of New Orleans teacher Terrilynn Monette, who has been missing since March 2.
Monette, 26, was celebrating her recent nomination as "Teacher of the Year" in her district with friends at a local bar in the Lakeview section of New Orleans. Police say a bartender at Parlay's bar claims to have "cut off" Monette from drinking because she'd had too much drink. Later, the 2nd grade teacher reportedly told friends she would go sleep things off in her car because she had too much to drink and didn’t want to risk driving home. She was last seen in the bar's parking lot at around 3:30 a.m. that morning.
This tragic case brings up many issues, including friend etiquette. On message boards and comments sections, people are questioning how Monette's friends could have let her "sleep things off" alone at night when she was intoxicated. This is not an attempt to blame Monette's friends for her disappearance, but a moment for us to examine, and rethink, our practices when we're out having a good time with friends. What would you have done in this situation? What rules do you and your friends set when you go out? Share your thoughts and comments with us below.
QUESTION:What's your number one rule for a night out with friends?
"Friends never leave friends" is our motto
We agree to set a limit for the number of drinks
We keep our drinks on hand and rarely accept drinks from strangers
We always send each other text messages when we get home
We always make sure we have cab fare to go home
