Fashion films are the trend du jour, but we have to say, none has inspired us quite like Italian fashion house Miu Miu's latest installment to their Women's Tales series. Starring ESSENCE Black Women in Hollywood honorees Gabrielle Union and Alfre Woodard and directed by Ava DuVernay, the 9-minute short weaves a beautiful tale of friendship and the transformative power of sisterhood.

The film's main focus is an actual door and the friends who come through it to help Union through a bitter breakup. “Characters arrive at the door of a friend in need, bringing something of themselves,” DuVernay explains. “Eventually, we witness our heroine ready to walk through the door on her own. The door in the film represents a pathway to who we are."

Actresses Emayatzy Corinealdi (Middle of Nowehere) Adepero Oduye (Pariah) and singer Goapele also co-star in the short.
