Tonight ESSENCE will honor two of music's most notable rising stars, Lianne La Havas and Solange Knowles, at our 2013 Black Women in Music event.

Last year, British musical sensation, La Havas, made her debut in America to raving reviews. Not only can the folk and soul songstress call Prince and Stevie Wonder fans, but her album, Is Your Love Big Enough, was voted the iTunes' UK Album of the Year in 2012.

Knowles recently returned to the music scene after time away from the spotlight. She released a brand new EP, True, at the end of 2012 and instantly won critics over. True is an experimental take on old-school R&B with a new school twist. Not only is Knowles a renowned performing artist, but she is a songwriter, producer, model, dancer and DJ.

With so much refreshing talent making waves in America and abroad, we have to ask, who is your favorite new school artist?

QUESTION:Who's your favorite new school artist? Lianne La Havas 16% Solange Knowles 16% Luke James 13% Elle Varner 37% Bridget Kelly 2% Frank Ocean 17% Total votes: 216
