The 70-year-old singer is set to perform all the hits she’s produced in her her 50-year career. Franklin’s extensive catalog includes songs like “I Never Loved a Man (The Way I Love You),” “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman” and “Chain of Fools.”
ESSENCE Communications President Michelle Ebanks says tonight’s concert is a must-see. “Aretha Franklin promises to perform all of her songs tonight in the Louisiana Superdome from ‘Freeway of Love’ to ‘Respect.’ I will be on my feet all night long for this once-in-a-lifetime event.”
Franklin is the third and final headliner for the 2012 ESSENCE Music Festival, which has already seen the likes of Mary J. Blige, Ledisi, D’Angelo, Trey Songz, Charlie Wilson and more.
Tonight’s lineup includes performances from Kirk Franklin, Fantasia, Anthony Hamilton and Chaka Khan, who’ll be part of a multi-diva tribute to artists who passed away in the past year.
