The 2012 BET Awards were filled with many memorable moments, perhaps none more talked about than the star studded tribute to the late Whitney Houston.
Mariah Carey opened the show with a tearful memory of Nippy. Monica sang “I Love the Lord,” Brandy danced her way through “I’m Your Baby Tonight” and “I Want to Dance with Somebody,” Cissy Houston held back tears as she sang “Bridge Over Troubled Waters,” and Chaka Khan brought the crowd to their feet with “I’m Every Woman.” Whitney’s brother, Gary, also performed a song for his late sister.
In other video highlights, Willow Smith instantly became a trending topic on Twitter when she premiered her latest video, “I Am Me.” The young starlet chose to showcase her vocals this time around instead of her dance movies. The heartfelt and vulnerable video left many nodding their heads in belief that this young diva is the one to watch. “It’s just explaining who I am and what symbolizes me — like an energy, me as a person, just cool and rounded,” Willow told Terrence J and Rocsi.
