Whitney Houston Died of Accidental Drowning, Says Coroner

Whitney Houston’s death was the result of accidental drowning in her hotel bathtub, according to the Los Angeles coroner.

New autopsy results released today conclude that heart disease and “chronic cocaine use” also played a role in her death, reports the Associated Press. Houston was found underwater in her Beverly Hilton hotel room on February 11, and was laid to rest in a touching homegoing service on February 24. The legendary singer had just finished filming Sparkle and was planning a musical comeback.

Although Houston struggled with drug abuse many times throughout her life, with regular stints in rehab, in 2010 she told Oprah Winfrey, she “conquered all her demons.”
