The youngest Jackson says she’s “very flattered that X Factor let me know that I was being considered for next season, but it just wouldn’t be possible.” She claims her commitments to her ongoing “Number Ones Up Close and Personal Tour” would make joining the show “unrealistic.”
“There have been absolutely no meetings between Janet and anyone with regard to X Factor,” a rep for the star followed up.
Jackson recently appeared on Anderson Cooper’s talk show and gave an ambiguous response to the rumors: “No, I’m not a judge on X Factor,” she said. “But that’s all I really think I should say.”
There’s no word on who will replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger who were axed last month. Names like Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and, before her passing, Whitney Houston were thrown around as possible replacements, but so far, no one has committed.
