J. Cole's debut album takes the top spot on the Billboard charts.

Rapper J. Cole just made a giant splash on the Billboard 200. His debut album "Cole World: the Sideline Story" snagged the top spot -- selling 218,000 copies.

According to Billboard.com, Cole is the first solo artist to debut at number one in over a year.

Cole is a member of the Roc Nation/Columbia collaboration. He was also the first artist Jay-Z signed to his label.

Ahead of the young rapper's release, he put out a myriad of mixtapes that brought him tons of attention -- all of which were building up to this point.
