Taraji P. Henson kept things low key as she celebrated her 41st birthday on September 11th in New York City.

The actress, who will star in CBS' 'Person of Interest" this fall, hosted an intimate brunch at one of her favorite Italian restaurants, celebrity chef Mario Batali's Babbo in the West Village. "It was the best way to celebrate," Taraji told ESSENCE.com during the Herve Leger by Max Azria show at New York Fashion Week. "Mary J. [Blige] came, and a bunch of my other friends. We had the best time."

On her big day, Taraji tweeted, "My family is EVERYTHING to me and God blessed me with some pretty AWESOME friends!"

Next up is the Emmys, where Taraji is nominated as Best Actress in a Mini-Series or TV movie for "Taken from Me: The Tiffany Rubin Story."

What will she wear for that big day? "I don’t know yet. But I just want to get on that carpet and pop," she said. "I want people to look at my dress and say ‘Oh My.’"
