Drake was recently honored with the Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala.
First child actor, then thriving rapper, and now award-winning songwriter --Drake just seems to be a little bit of everything and he has another accolade to prove it. The Young Money MC was recently honored with the Hal David Starlight Award at the 42nd annual Songwriters Hall of Fame gala in New York City.
Despite winning many awards in his short career, he said this one is definitely special. "Just won the most incredible award and performed for my mother...a year ago today she was being wheeled into a surgery room...I love you," Drake tweeted to more than 2 million of his followers.
After receiving the award, the Canadian rapper thanked Alicia Keys for the opportunity to write and provide background vocals on her single 'Un-thinkable,' the song for which he was recognized. He also performed 'Best I Ever Had,' off his 'Thank Me Later' debut.
Congrats on the award Dreezy -- keep it up!
