No one would have ever thought Type 1 Diabetes to be the inspiration for a fashion line. But for Dana Davis, founder of her namesake collection of shoes, being diagnosed with the disease was the direct reason she founded her company.

As a career elementary school teacher required to be on her feet for hours at a time, Davis was plagued with foot-related problems. The search for comfortable, chic shoes revealed very few options for a woman who required style and comfort in her footwear. In frustration, she created her line, Dana Davis footwear, which has become a runaway success.
